Trinity college ran a competition looking for a modern interpretation of the animals in the Book of Kells. This is my modern day twist & entry.
The eagle is John - for real!
And the wolf spirit is that of instincts - how you trust or mistrust your instincts.
I decided that John (the eagle) is feeling threatened by his own instincts or feelings (wolf spirit)! The whole thing reminded me of being back at school - except I gave myself the homework!
Close to Kinsaale where I live, there is a beautiful place called Sandycove. It is absolutely stunning with the most breathtaking colours of the sea against the land. It draws sea swimmers all year round to swim from the slipway around the island. One of the swimmers, Eoin O’Riordan, told me that the island is home to goats and suggested I draw a goat. Et voila!
